Lakshmy Ramakrishnan to turn director with 'Aarohanam'

Actress Lakshmy Ramakrishnan was introduced to cinema through the Malayalam movie 'Chakramuthu' and to Kollywood through 'Pirivom Sandhipom'. She shot to fame with her performances as mother in 'Poi Solla Porom', 'Naan Mahaan Alla', and 'Yuddham Sei'.
Lakshmi Ramakrishnan who is getting much acclaim for her mother roles is all set to turn a director and her debut film is titled 'Aarohanam'. 'Aarohanam' denotes the ascending of the swarams in the ragas in Carnatic music. But this film is not a musical, but Lakshmy has titled it 'Aarohanam' because it talks about the upswings in the lives of the protagonists.
The film has Sampath, Jayaprakash, Viji Chandrasekhar, Uma Padmanabhan and Rajee Vijayasarathy in the cast.
Shamuga Sundaram is the cinematographer. K (of Yuddam Sei fame) is the composer. Kishore is the editor. Anoop is producing the film for A.V.A Productions. Mangi Creative Lab is the co-producer.
Lakshmy said she had selected the best of 45 different screenplays. 'Look at those mentally ill from a different angle' is the message of the film.
