Mani Ratnam's next officially titled as 'Kadal'

Maverick director Mani Ratnam's new bilingual movie is officially titled as "Kadal". This announcement from the ace filmmaker has put to rest a big guessing game that has been taking place in Kollywood for quite some time now.

As reported earlier, Mani is launching leading actor Karthik’s son, Gautham. Sizzling Samantha, currently on a career-high in the Telugu film industry and working in the trilingual ‘Nee Thane En Pon Vasantham’ has been cast opposite Gautham.

The big-star cast also includes Arjun in a vital role, Arvindhswamy who is making a comeback to the big screen after a gap, Telugu actress Lakshmi Manchu and National award winner Thambi Ramaiah.

'The film is about the plight of Tamil Nadu fishermen in the mid sea. The sufferings they face in the form of Sri Lankan Navy and other things would be highlighted in this movie, in the backdrop of an interesting love story,' add sources.

Shooting for Kadal will start before the end of this month. Mani Ratnam would shoot some scenes in the middle of the sea, after obtaining special permission from the authorities concerned,' sources conclude.

This romantic flick has Mani’s favourite musical mascot, A.R. Rahman, composing the film's tracks and cinematography by Rajeev Menon.
