Though Nikki Reed is normally found on the edges of the Twilight franchise (she’s Rosalie Hale in the films), she’s leaving the sparkly vampire life behind to co-star with Jake Hoffman in Snap, a new psychological thriller set in the world of underground Dubstep.
The feature centres on the torrid romance between a brilliant dubstep producer, portrayed by Jake, and a social worker, played by Nikki. Their affair eventually ends in disaster.
Deadline reports that up-and-coming Filly Brown filmmakers Victor Teran and Youssef Delara, who are currently showcasing the feature at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, are elated with the way their Snap cast has shaped up.
“We’re extremely blessed that, after our amazing experience with Gina Rodriguez on Filly, we get to continue working with more brilliant young actors like Jake and Nikki,” Youssef said.
Similar to Snap, Filly Brown is based on the trials of an emerging musician in the underground hip-hop world. The film stars newcomer Gina and features appearances by veteran actors Lou Diamond Phillips and Edward James Olmos.
Victor produced Filly Brown and Youssef wrote and helmed the project. Snap will act as Victor’s directorial debut and Youssef will co-direct the feature.
"Snap" filming will begin on March 26.
