Director Raj Kanwar passes away in Singapore

Bollywood director and Producer Raj Kanwar breathed his last in Singapore on Friday afternoon, following kidney transplant complications. He was 50.
He was ill-health for quiet a few months and was bed sickened. He had gone to Singapore for the kidney transplant operation and died soon after the surgery. Raj's last rites will be performed in Mumbai on Sunday. His body is being flown to Indian for the last rites.
Raj Kanwar worked as an assistant director in the movie Ram Avtar and Ghayal. Later he took up direction and directed Shahrukh Khan and late Divya Bharti in the movie Deewana.
Kanwar directed almost all the major stars of the 90s and the 2000s in a string of
mainstream hits such as Deewana, Andaaz, Judaai, Jeet, Badal, Daag – The Fire, Jaan
and Laadla. The other films he directed were Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Kartavya,
Ithihaas, Farz, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Ab Ke Baras, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye and
Sadiyaan.
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, whom he had launched in big screen in the 1992 film Deewana, expressed his solitariness by tweeting, “My friend raj kanwarji passed
away.The impermanence of life,makes one feel so helpless. May his soul rest in
peace.Aisi Deewangi..miss u sir.”
Priyanka, who made her debut in the 2003 hit Andaaz, tweeted: 'Saddens me so much, my 1st director Raj Kanwar passed away... RIP Rajji... U believed in me when even I didn't. Andaaz taught me everything I know (sic).'
Abhishek Bachchan tweeted: “Terribly saddened by the passing of Raj Kanwar. Was the 1st person to sign me after Refuggee. He made Aishwarya and my 1st film together.”
Alka Yagnik tweeted: “Raj Kanwar ji no more,.. V sad... had sung several songs in so many of his films, a v pleasant person...may his Soul rest in peace...”
