Dharmendra thanks govt for Padma Bhushan award
Veteran actor Dharmendra is really happy and excited these days as he has been shortlisted to be honoured with Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour. He along with Shabana Azmi and Mira Nair has been chosen in the art-cinema category.

While expressing his feelings after being shortlisted for such a prestigious award he said that being selected for this award was unexpected as he has always been unlucky as far as awards are concerned but he is glad for such recognition.

Dharmendra, who received Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997 and another Lifetime achievement Award at the 2007 IIFA Awards, said that Padma Bhushan award is also of this genre which he is being receiving since few years.

The 76-year-old thanked the Indian government which, according to him considered him worthy for this award. He also expressed gratitude towards his fans for their love and accepting him for 50 years.

Dharmendra, has worked in 247 Hindi-language films and has been nominated four times in filmfare's best actor category but he was not fortunate enough to bag a single award in this category.
